This past Sunday I covered the Luminaria at the Spotsylvania Courthouse. It was cold and very windy. So windy that the Boy Scouts were never really able to light the hundreds of candles set up around the Courthouse. But it was still a nice event with many different choirs who performed holiday classics including a group sing-along to close the event.
You're a mean one...

Pet Portraits
Here are a couple portraits of Maci and Miles. I hope to have time tomorrow to do the same for Blitzen and Max.
Yep, we have 3 dogs - but little Miles belongs to our oldest daughter, Nicki.
All of them get along so well and had a great Thanksgiving together.

Civil War 150th Anniversary (freelance assignment)
The Fredericksburg area kicked off some major events that marked the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. The first of the day was a tour of the Brompton House grounds. Tours were led by National Park Rangers explaining the importance the land and former home of John Lawrence Marye during the conflict.
The second event of the day took me to Fredericksburg Baptist Church, where authors and historians lectured on the Secession and the Confederate Revolution.

Emily Osment (freelance assignment)
Saturday I covered an appearence by Emily Osment at the Spostylvania Towne Centre. It was quite a scene with the thousands of kids and their families, some waiting in line for over 5 hours to see the Hannah Montana sidekick. She signed autographs for a couple hours and then finished up with a Q&A with her young fans. Despite the long line, her fans were so excited to get a chance to meet the young TV and recording star.

Here are a few images of the appearance.

Military Appreciation Day
The Fredericksburg Area Military Appreciation Day was held on Saturday, Nov. 13 at the National Guard Armory. It was an all-day event that included military demonstrations, music, food and awards given to many local heroes that have served. Paul Galanti, Commissioner of the Virginia Department of Veterans Services, a Vietnam Veteran and prisoner of war, was also in attendance and delivered the keynote address. Below are a few images of the event.
